Meet Melanie Egger, our Employee Experience Intern
Internship in multiple locations and departments? Yes, we do!
Get to know Melanie, our Employee Experience Intern at Group Office Vienna and read her interview below. Currently part-time, due to her Master studies in Digital Business Innovation and Transformation at IMC Krems, Melanie is part of our Group HR team.
I came across Mondi ... in my homewtown! Mondi has a paper mill in the same region and I have also done several summer internships there, this is how I actually started. That gave me a very good insight and understanding about Mondi and the products. After my bachelor’s degree I applied in Vienna for an internship position and then had the opportunity to gain first office experience in the Business Development Department at Flexible Packaging. After the internship I stayed in Mondi´s Grow Network (students and former intern network) and then got contacted for my dream position in HR, which I happily accepted.
If my family asks me what my job is about, I explain … I am supporting the set-up and management of our global Employee Survey and other smaller projects, for example organising our "Girls Day" (Employer Branding event) in our office.
What I like most about my job is ... the flexibility and the opportunity to do things on my own. I like getting different viewpoints as I am supporting my colleagues with their individual projects and tasks. And meeting different people from various departments and connecting with them.
My highlights so far have been ... our team events as I have not had to chance to really take part at such events until now and I really enjoy them. Another highlight is seeing the finished “product” or project in the end where I have supported and taken over tasks.
My advice for students ... Take chances and be open-minded. You will learn on the way what you like and what not. As I have taken the opportunities and chances to gain experiences in various different departments and also companies I know now where I do not see myself in the future, but I have tried it and gained important insights and experiences.
Take chances and be open-minded.”
