Mondi SCP welcomed Mr. Fico who visited the pulp and paper mill during his visit to Ružomberok.

Ružomberok, 26 June 2016 – The prime minister of the Slovak Republic Róbert Fico visited the Town of Ružomberok on Monday, 26 June as part of a planned trip to different regions of Slovakia. Included in his official program was a visit to Mondi’s pulp and paper mill, the biggest private employer in the region. The prime minister was welcomed by Bernhard Peschek, Managing Director Mondi SCP and by Miloslav Čurilla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mondi SCP.

During the meeting with representatives of shareholders, Peter Orisich, CEO Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper, and Milan Fiľo, President Ecoinvestment, and other members of the Board of Directors of Mondi SCP, they discussed topics such as the importance of access to wood and finalisation of the D1 highway project. Representatives of Mondi SCP also prepared a short overview of a planned project called ECO plus, which includes construction of a new 300,000 ton per annum Kraft top white machine and related pulp mill upgrades totalling some €310 million EUR (subject to the approval of tax incentives by the European Commission and necessary permits). Mondi SCP has already submitted the necessary applications for all relevant permits.

The second part of the prime minister’s visit included a mill tour, during which he saw PM18, the biggest paper machine, as well as the finishing department. “We are honoured that the prime minister visited our company today. We can see that he is a big supporter of the mill and employment in the region,” said Miloslav Čurilla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mondi SCP.
