Get to know Yana Todorova Sales and Logistics Intern at Mondi Stambolijski

I came across Mondi through...

participating in the mentoring programme ‘’Mentor the Young’’. When I applied for the programme, I set a goal to find a summer internship. The organizers of ‘’Mentor the Young’’ paired me with a mentor working as a Human Resources Manager to help me achieve my goal. Thanks to my mentor, I got the chance to send my CV to Mondi and later had an interview for the open internship position.

What I like most about Mondi is...

the community. The plant reminds me of my university campus where interacting with different people happens even when you walk from one building to another. Everyone is always cheerful and ready to help if needed. Moreover, the work process is organized in such a way that communication between departments happens every day.

When I joined Mondi, I would never have thought that ...

I would get familiar with the process of producing paper. My colleagues introduced me to the process of how a tree trunk becomes a sheet of paper firsthand. We visited most of the plant buildings and I would say that the process is quite complex.

What I like most about my job is ...

that I can learn practical skills. University prepares you well theoretically for what you may experience in a future work environment, but I believe that doing internships during your course of education may be crucial for easier adaptation after graduation.

Just ask. It is normal to feel overwhelmed.

My biggest challenge so far has been ...

using the SAP software. I have never worked with it before, and I need time to get used to it. However, with the help of my patient colleagues and the notes I have taken, I am gradually starting to do the operations quickly and intuitively.

The best advice I ever got was ...

"just ask". Everyone understands that I am facing tons of new information every minute and it is normal to feel overwhelmed. The learning process can be effective only if I share with my colleagues what I find difficult to grasp so that they can explain it to me again.

My future career path...

leads me to unknown opportunities. I have two more years until I get my bachelor’s degree and that gives me plenty of time to decide what my master’s degree should be about. After graduating I hope to find a job in my hometown - Plovdiv, gain more knowledge related to international business and someday when I feel confident enough in my skills - start my own business.
