Packaging must be reduced in size and weight

Reducing the amount of material used for packaging will contribute to the minimisation of waste. Companies should design and use packaging efficiently while ensuring packaging functionality and protection of the product.

  • Sales packaging shall be reduced to the minimum necessary

  • For grouped, transport and e-commerce packaging, the empty space ratio shall not exceed 50%

Space filled by filling materials, such as air cushions, foam, or paper will be considered empty space.  

These requirements do not apply to sales packaging used as e-commerce packaging and reusable packaging within a system of reuse.
