Ban of certain single-use plastic packaging formats

From 2030 many single use-plastic formats will not be allowed on the market

The following single-use plastic formats will be restricted by 2030 with some exemptions determined in 2026.

  • Grouped packaging

    e.g. shrink wrap and collation film

  • Unprocessed fresh fruit and vegetable packaging below 1.5 kg

    e.g. nets, bags, trays, containers

  • Packaging in HORECA sector

    e.g. plates and cups, boxes, trays, condiments, preserves, sauces, coffee creamers, sugar and seasoning

  • Packaging for individual bookings in the accommodation sector

    e.g. shampoos, hand and body lotion

  • Very lightweight plastic carrier bags

    e.g. bags provided for bulk groceries

Mondi has various paper-based solutions that can replace single-use plastic for grouped packaging, fresh fruits, vegetables and plastic carrier bags.
