Mondi named a Diversity & Inclusion Champion at the 2024 Minerva Awards

Mondi's Curious Community, an initiative to promote diversity and inclusion in the global packaging and paper company, is one of the Diversity & Inclusion Champions at the Minerva Awards 2024. 

Curiosity drives individuals to explore new possibilities and question existing methods, leading to innovation and improvements. Businesses that support a culture of curiosity, are often more creative and proactive in developing new products, services, and solutions that meet changing customer needs. Also, curiosity can support better collaboration and communication within a team. By being open to others' ideas and perspectives, teams can harness diverse thoughts, which often leads to more effective decision-making and innovation. At Mondi, curiosity even has its own community - the Curious Community! It promotes diversity, learning and cultural change within the company.  

For this, Mondi has now been selected as one of the Diversity & Inclusion Champions at the Minerva Awards 2024 

A jury of 13 experts selected the five best projects in each of three categories from numerous submissions. "In the Diversity Challenge, it is particularly important to us to continuously question traditional clichés and patterns in order to ensure a sustainable future. I am extremely satisfied with the large number of different and high-impact initiatives. The quality this year is very high and we as the jury were really delighted", summarises WEconomy & sheconomy CEO and initiator Hermann Sporrer. 

The Mondi Curious Community is an online community founded in 2022 that focuses on learning, personal growth and the promotion of diversity and inclusion. It brings people together and provides a safe space to learn with and from each other. Important topics include: Attracting women, the role of men in diversity and inclusion work, neurodiversity and disability in the workplace, allyship for marginalised groups, as well as culture change and joy at work. The community now has 330 members from all parts of the company and almost 30 countries.  

"Our vision for the Curious Community is to make Mondi a role model for inclusion in the packaging industry. We know that our employees are happiest and do their best work when they feel they belong and don't need to hide any part of their identity. To support this, we focus on opportunities for encounters and interaction and also use evidence-based good practices. Curiosity is our most important resource," underlines Frauke Bastians, Mondi Diversity & Inclusion Senior Manager and programme initiator.  

Diversity and inclusion are part of our corporate strategy, MAP2030, and also has clear areas of action for this.
