Édition Spéciale by Luxe Pack 2024 in Paris: Mondi to showcase papers for luxury packaging

The Édition Spéciale by Luxe Pack trade fair on 4 and 5 June 2024 in Paris is dedicated to the subject of sustainable premium packaging, demonstrating just how crucial sustainability is for luxury goods. Mondi UFP will be showing a selection of premium, sustainable packaging papers made from natural materials at stand C16 in the historic Carreau du Temple, a former clothing market. Against the backdrop of major environmental change, the Édition Spéciale is focussing on sustainability and eco-design for the ideal packaging of tomorrow. A number of speakers will be addressing current trends and innovative products. 

Starting with sustainability 

Optimally suited for luxury packaging, the Mondi papers on exhibit at Luxe Pack are produced at the Mondi Neusiedler mill in Austria. The pulp used there, and in all uncoated fine papers from Mondi, is sourced exclusively from forests that are sustainably managed—either by Mondi itself or by carefully selected suppliers on the global market. All Mondi paper brands produced in Austria and Slovakia are Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze. This certification covers all aspects, from procurement to production, and verifies that products are manufactured and used in compliance with the principles of a circular economy.   

PERGRAPHICA® design papers for a touch of luxury  

Among the products on display at the Mondi stand will be the PERGRAPHICA® line of premium design papers, offering a unique combination of optics, haptics and colours to enhance brand identity. For manufacturers of premium goods, optimum presentation is critical, because it is the packaging that conveys the first impression of the luxurious contents. Consumers expect exquisite packaging to have an equally as exquisite product inside. “Our premium design paper brand PERGRAPHICA® gives brand owners and packaging designers a wide range of creative options,” explains Bernhard Cantzler, Marketing & Sales Director at Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper. “PERGRAPHICA® stands for creativity, but also provides a lasting effect. Even the very first touch is a sensory experience, and the visual impact can be anything from striking to elegant.” What is more, this extensive line of papers ensures consistently high print quality and outstanding converting properties. PERGRAPHICA® design papers are available in three shades of white with excellent colour reproduction, as well as a broad palette of 31 soft, rich and dark colours. In addition to Cradle to Cradle certification, these FSCTM-certified design papers also bear the EU Ecolabel.  

IQ BOARD premium quality for premium products 

“IQ BOARD, our uncoated virgin fibre premium paper, is another very interesting option for packaging applications,” explains Bernhard Cantzler. “It showcases the contents in a thoroughly unique way, especially when it comes to luxury articles, cosmetics and premium hygiene products.” IQ BOARD has been optimised for seamless processing in printing, finishing and packaging. The smooth, natural haptics accentuate exclusive packaging designs. IQ BOARD is available in the colours High White and Natural White. Apart from such advantages, these papers also boast Cradle to Cradle certification and the EU Ecolabel. 

IQ GRASS + PACKAGING conveys sustainability at first glance 

In Paris, visitors will also have an opportunity to experience Mondi’s grass packaging paper: IQ GRASS+ PACKAGING. This Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze paper, made of up to 30 percent grass fibre combined with FSC™- and PEFC-certified virgin fibre, is guaranteed to attract attention. These raw materials lend IQ GRASS + PACKAGING a distinctive structure and fibrous look. No one sheet looks exactly like another, making each package unique. IQ GRASS+ PACKAGING can be hot foil stamped or embossed for superior haptic effects. 

Food contact safety 

The papers exhibited at Luxe Pack meet various certification criteria for food contact. The three PERGRAPHICA® shades of white (High White, Classic and Natural) are suitable for food packaging applications, as are PERGRAPHICA® Infinite Black, the IQ GRASS+ PACKAGING range and IQ BOARD Ivory. They keep products in perfect condition in line with brand identity, and comply with all food safety regulations.
