Mondi and Caritas receive ‘Partnership of the Year’ award
Vienna, 10 October 2018 – Mondi, the global packaging and paper Group, was jointly recognised with charitable organisation Caritas Austria for their successful nine-year collaboration with the Partnership of the Year award at the 25 th annual Fundraising Awards ceremony held by the Austrian Fundraising Association (FVA) on 8 October.
Albert Klinkhammer, Head of Public Affairs, Mondi Group, added, “Since Mondi became an independent company in 2007 we have invested more than 107million euros supporting the communities where we operate around the world. Austria holds a special place in our history and so we’re honoured to receive this prize, which recognises our good work with Caritas as well as the efforts of our volunteers who help young students succeed in school and life.”
Mondi supports Caritas in running four Mondi ‘Study Cafés’ across Austria. Study Cafés are welcoming places where children and youths from socially disadvantaged families can come to study and receive free help with their schoolwork.
In addition to financial support, Mondi employees have volunteered their time at the four Study Cafés, which are located nearby the Mondi production facilities in Korneuburg, Frantschach/Wolfsberg, Zeltweg and Neusiedler/Amstetten. To date, 560 pupils and students have made use of the Mondi Study Cafés to get ahead in school and improve their prospects for the future.
Bernd Wachter, General Secretary of Caritas Austria, commented, “The Mondi Study Cafés are a great example of a sustainable and successful partnership that has a direct, positive impact on young people in Austria.”
