World Star Packaging Award

Mondi Bupak has won a World Star Award for its innovative corrugated packaging solution for the customer Schneider Electric, packing their “F series” contactors.

The outside box and fixating elements provide perfect protection for world-wide transportation. By its development of the inner fixating elements, Mondi was able to substitute the foam and plastic elements as well as metal clips previously used. This way packaging weight was reduced, the packaging is now fully recyclable and the packaging is more adaptable in size and thus supports multi-size usage. The flat box is delivered to the customer and has proven easy handling for forming, filling, closing and reopening. Cost savings, advantages in the logistics process and elimination of problematic waste had convinced the customer and they switched to Mondi – in 2012 the Schneider company “Pisek” had proclaimed Mondi Bupak to be their “supplier of the year” in the category “packages made from corrugated board”.

 WorldStars are presented only to those packs which have already won recognition in a national or regional competition. They are compared by an expert panel of judges to similar packs from around the world. Awards are based on the judges' consensus that a pack is superior in its category and market and better in its class in execution or innovation by comparison to others.

The World Star Award ceremony took place in Düsseldorf during the Interpack on May 13.
