Get to know our trainee!
Filmon is currently training to become a mechatronics engineer with us. In an interview, we asked him about his training at Mondi.
Interview
Introduce yourself
Filmon: I am Filmon, I am 24 years old and have been training to become a mechatronics engineer since September 2020. My hobbies include playing the guitar, but also sometimes chess. I go to boxing and to unwind I like to read or cook.
Why did you apply to Mondi?
Filmon: Mondi was recommended to me by a good friend. After a summer job here, I was convinced I wanted to start my training here.
Which department/activity do you like the most so far?
Filmon: I like the daily challenges that always await me here. What I like best about my training is troubleshooting or as I call it “detective work”.
Which of our benefits do you think are the best?
Filmon: The greatest benefit here is that you are seen as a person from day one and accepted as you are.
What do you like about the Mondi Bad Rappenau location?
Filmon: I like that it's so familiar here. You know everyone and feel like you have arrived here and are accepted. You don't just feel like a number, you feel seen and heard. If you have any problems, you will be supported and your supervisor will help where he can. I feel really valued.
How was your interview? Do you have any tips for applicants?
Filmon: Find out about the company and don't drive yourself crazy. At Mondi you count as a person and not just your grades! If you seem motivated and interested, that's half the battle.
Which vocational school do you attend and what requirements do you have to meet for the vocational school?
Filmon: My vocational school is the Christian Schmidt School in Neckarsulm. I have school once a week and an additional day of lab every three weeks. A basic understanding of mathematics and physics is required. It is also programmed. Economics, German and English are also subjects that you have but if you put yourself into school, you'll be fine.
What requirements do you need to have a good education here?
Filmon: I think it's very important here to be a team player. You can do more with two people than alone. So always ask - twice if necessary. There is always someone who would be happy to help you and share their knowledge with you. Having fun at work is also very important, there are days that don't go perfectly, but you shouldn't let that get you down. The best thing you can do is, like me, come into the company with a big smile on your face and be excited about what challenges await you today.
