Jessica is doing her dual studies with us. In an interview, we asked her about her training at Mondi.
Interview
Introduce yourself
Jessica: I'm Jessica, I am 22 years old and have been doing the dual study program at Mondi since September 2020. My hobbies include spending time with my dog. When I'm not outside, I'm reading, doing yoga or sleeping.
Why did you apply to Mondi?
Jessica: I knew Mondi from a young age and based on recommendations and the diversity at Mondi, I decided to start my dual studies here.
Which department/activity do you like the most so far?
Jessica: I found accounting the best because I was allowed to work independently. I had my tasks and was able to structure my day myself.
Which of our benefits do you think are the best?
Jessica: The best thing here by far is that effort is valued. If the inventory was good, we all get sandwiches delivered together. If there were high production numbers, a food truck comes. We are all encouraged to strive together. I think that's exactly what makes us all grow together, because if we achieve the goal together, we all get something in return.
But the flexitime is also a nice thing. If you're half an hour late, it doesn't matter at all. Either you have already accumulated half an hour in your flextime account, or you can stay there for half an hour longer. You can decide about it yourself.
What do you like about the Mondi Bad Rappenau location?
Jessica: After my two years here, I am familiar with my colleagues. I have a good relationship with everyone and know exactly where to go if I get stuck. I like the relaxed and familiar atmosphere here.
How was your interview? Do you have any tips for applicants?
Jessica: My interview was pleasant and easy going. I was asked some questions about myself, but also questions about Mondi. Make sure you are well informed about the company. What is Mondi actually doing in Bad Rappenau? And why do you want to come here to work?
Which vocational school do you attend and what requirements do you have to meet for the vocational school?
Jessica: I'm at the DHBW in Mosbach. The practical and theory phases always switch after about three months. At the DHBW you have to give a lot of presentations, but you are also prepared for them. You only have math for the first semester but you have a lot of fun with economics, financial accounting and accounting. If you put your mind to it, it's doable.
What requirements do you need to have a good education here?
Jessica: You should be open, but still respectful towards your colleagues. If you are interested in many different things and are curious to learn, then you will have a great time here. In my two years, I have never had a colleague not be happy to explain something to me. The knowledge here is very happy to be shared so that we can all grow together.
