Safety Trainer

Your mission:

This position is a key member of the safety & health team, and works closely with mill supervisors and management. The primary responsibility of the safety trainer is to conduct interactive learning sessions for Mondi Hinton employees so that our staff members understand key protection protocols, including LOTO, confined space entry, risk assessment and the Mondi Nine Safety Rules to Live By. You will also create or update policies for our organization to improve safety guidelines and help align them with legal mandates. We are continually seeking new ways to improve the employee experience, and this position is an important player in that process. 

• Staff Education: After collaborating with our safety team to create plans for improving safety within our organization, you will work with employees to help them understand and follow any new or existing rules. This may include a range of communication methods, including seminars, written instructions, visual presentations, and tutorial videos.
• New Hire and Contractor Orientation: Teaching safety procedures and processes to newly hired and contracted employees. This will include educating employees in how to avoid safety violations and follow guidelines or monitoring their progress while performing tasks.
• Workplace Safety Instruction: Teach employees our safety processes and procedures including working at heights, LOTO, confined space entry, gas testing, hazard assessment, and similar programs.

The successful candidate will be well-versed in health and safety regulations have a continuous improvement mindset and pays attention to detail.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as occupational health and safety, engineering, or education preferred
• Relevant work experience in safety regulations, harzard identification and risk management
• Adult education and instruction experience
• Strong correpsondence and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Industry specific knowledge is an advantage
